What is ToyVault?
Identifying and tracking vintage toys is hard: different card backs, regional releases, incomplete online lists, and prices that never match what you actually own.
ToyVault is a free, community-built database and collection tracker for vintage toys and action figures — the way Discogs is for music releases.
What you can do
- Browse the public catalog — toy lines, item numbers, photos, descriptions, release details, and catalog market values. No account required.
- Track your collection — condition, purchase price, notes, and photos of toys you own.
- Keep a wishlist — save toys you still want and share a public want list if you choose.
- Buy and sell — list catalog-linked items on the Marketplace and message other collectors.
- Help improve the catalog — suggest new toys or missing details for moderator review.

Collectors who need a reliable reference for what exists, sellers who want catalog-linked listings, and anyone researching variants, regional releases, or older toy lines that never got a proper online checklist.
Built for completeness, not just official releases
Real collecting is messy. The same figure might exist in multiple card backs, paint variants, Canadian or European packaging, or third-party bootlegs.
Variants and bootlegs are welcome here. If it matters to collectors, it belongs in the catalog.
How it works
- Start on the toy database — search by name, item number, or theme.
- Create a free account when you want a collection, wishlist, or marketplace listing.
- Open any incomplete toy page and suggest missing details — the community helps the catalog stay accurate.
How catalog values work
Loose and New / Sealed each have their own market value. Boxed / Opened is shown only for toys whose package format is Box. The current figure is the average of matching eBay sold listings from the last two years, converted to euros.
- Loose is without the box or card.
- Boxed / Opened is opened but still with the box (open box, complete in box, or “with box”). This column is only shown when the catalog package format is Box — not for carded figures.
- New / Sealed is factory sealed (MIB / MOC / NIB). Open-box sales are not counted here.
- Only sales with a sold date in that two-year window count toward the current number.
- Titles have to match the toy, so a sibling, variant, or different figure does not pull the average.
- Professionally graded sales (AFA, CGC, and similar) are left out.
- Extreme outliers are dropped so one unusual auction does not set the price.
- Sold listings are merged by URL into an uncapped archive. Older sales stay available to view, including those older than two years.
If there are no matching sales in that two-year window, the last stored catalog figure stays visible as Last known catalog value. A refresh never wipes a stored estimate just because eBay found nothing recent.
The price-history chart is a monthly market line: for each month it shows the same two-year average, counted through that month-end. If a month has no sales in the window, the previous market price for that condition is carried forward. Refresh snapshots are an audit log of what was written, not the chart source.
Your collection uses the same catalog market value for the chosen condition (loose, boxed / opened, or sealed). The purchase price you enter is only for your personal invested amount and gain, not for the public catalog. Original retail price (MSRP) is a historical field and is not mixed into the market average.
These figures are a market reference, not an appraisal or an offer to buy or sell.

The catalog grows through contributions. Members can suggest new entries and help complete missing fields. Catalog market values come from eBay sold listings as explained in How catalog values work— they are a reference, not financial advice.
